It may be me and my teaching style but I would not do a section on vocabulary, I believe students at this age should know these words and be able to use context clues on their own to figure out the meaning, or find a different way to find the meaning of the words in the article I present to them. Maybe instead I would ask them to identify the trigger words, words that show bias towards one opinion or another, have the students look for any possible contradicting statements. More in depth learning skills than just looking up vocabulary words this way when the students are done we could share their findings with the class because there is always more than one way to view/read an article.

I do like how this lesson plan includes media like the documentary "Blackfish" it is a very eye opening experience that will definitely influence you one way or another. Splitting the class in half one on the side of captivity and the other against is a great tool, especially when you have a students opinion that opposes the group they were assigned, It allows the student to see and possibly understand the oppositions opinion. And we definitely need more understanding, compassion,empathy and sympathy in this day and age. Also the "hot seat" where students who are undecided sit and each team convinces the other of their groups opinion. The required medias are also very easy to access for any teacher or student after the lesson. A student might want to watch the whole documentary of "Blackfish" after seeing the trailer and might be inspired to study marine biology. With this also being a lesson for seniors in high school the students this is a subject that they have most likely seen in social media, the news or may have even have visited Sea World which makes it more relatable to their own life.

    I agree with what you said about the Cpalms lesson plan. I like the ideas you came up to do that would be better than the suggested activities. The idea of the "hot seat" is extremely interesting and I think could be a very fun thing to do. Also, I like your alternative to just learning basic Vocab. words, it is definitely a more in depth way to teach it.

 I absolutely love the class  website  I found!! Mr. Lindquist works at East Lansing High School in Michigan and teaches 12th grade economics, AP microeconomics and American government. He went to college at Michigan State University with a Bachelors in History, which is also my major.   You have access to his PowerPoints, a week to week review of what is happening in the class, the syllabus and an email address to contact him. You can also flip through all of his classes in the different tabs on the site. I will definitely be using productivity tools to assist me to keep my classroom organized. Google calendar will definitely keep me on track with what has to happen that week. Tools that help me keep track of grades not only for the school I'm teaching at but for my students. Week 3/4 September 12/19, 2017 Hurricane

When it comes to Microsoft Word I've used it for pretty much everything school related. Every paper is written and edited on Word. Even though I have a Mac I've still downloaded MS Word just in case I have to email a document as an attachment to a teacher, professor or coworker on the off chance Pages doesn't work on their end. Most professors use Word for their syllabus and hand outs for the class. At this point it's a part of every day life for me. Growing up and still to this day teachers and professors drill into you to cite everything you use, even to go as far in saying there's no such thing as too much citing. You always want to give credit for any work(s) you use for fear of any academic punishment like suspension or automatic "F". Every teacher and professor has always given the class websites we can use to properly cite our work. I honestly hate Twitter. I've been trying to be open minded about it but I just can't jump on the band wagon. I tend to forget about it, it just doesn't grasp my attention like other social medias. However there is valuable information available and constantly being pushed so people can access it. I'm following U.S. News Education and  they are always providing you with new up to date information that not only helps educators but parents as well. I probably won’t be using Twitter in my future.  There are two different types of students in the digital divide, students that have access to computers/technology and students that do not.
