Week 1 August 29, 2017



Other than your basic technologies smart phones for social media (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram) laptops for writing papers and research  I have not traveled far into the realm of technology mostly because I do not like it. I rather hand write than type, speak to you in person than talk on the phone, I can not type for anything, I hunt and peck. I guess I'm a millennial that never jumped on the wagon, growing up I was always outdoors doing anything and everything, definitely a "tom boy".  I think its because growing up there was a technology surge from 1992 to 2007 when the first iPhone was released and I just was never interested in it. So I guess you could say I was also born into the wrong era. Especially right now, as I can hear everyone typing a million words a minute, I feel out of my element.

I hope I get to learn as much as I can about the technology available to teachers. So if I do decide to become a professor I can relate more to my students and make my class as fun and simple for every student. I also hope I can learn enough to implement these lessons into everyday life. You never know what could make your life less complicated. I wish to learn to become more patient with technology as well as my self because I do tend to struggle with it.

    I hope that by the end of the semester you can see some of the ways technology can benefit you in your future career and personal life as well. Patience is important. Conversely, it is not important you love, like, or even use every technology out there. (In fact, that would be a pretty daunting task. )

 I absolutely love the class  website  I found!! Mr. Lindquist works at East Lansing High School in Michigan and teaches 12th grade economics, AP microeconomics and American government. He went to college at Michigan State University with a Bachelors in History, which is also my major.   You have access to his PowerPoints, a week to week review of what is happening in the class, the syllabus and an email address to contact him. You can also flip through all of his classes in the different tabs on the site. I will definitely be using productivity tools to assist me to keep my classroom organized. Google calendar will definitely keep me on track with what has to happen that week. Tools that help me keep track of grades not only for the school I'm teaching at but for my students. I know as a student I am curious to see how I am doing in a class, and to see what changes I have to make for the futur...

Week 3/4 September 12/19, 2017 Hurricane

When it comes to Microsoft Word I've used it for pretty much everything school related. Every paper is written and edited on Word. Even though I have a Mac I've still downloaded MS Word just in case I have to email a document as an attachment to a teacher, professor or coworker on the off chance Pages doesn't work on their end. Most professors use Word for their syllabus and hand outs for the class. At this point it's a part of every day life for me. Growing up and still to this day teachers and professors drill into you to cite everything you use, even to go as far in saying there's no such thing as too much citing. You always want to give credit for any work(s) you use for fear of any academic punishment like suspension or automatic "F". Every teacher and professor has always given the class websites we can use to properly cite our work. Most if not all college libraries offer workshops that you can submit your paper to and receive feed back on the doc...

Week 6 Oct 3, 2017

I honestly hate Twitter. I've been trying to be open minded about it but I just can't jump on the band wagon. I tend to forget about it, it just doesn't grasp my attention like other social medias. However there is valuable information available and constantly being pushed so people can access it. I'm following U.S. News Education and  they are always providing you with new up to date information that not only helps educators but parents as well. I probably won’t be using Twitter in my future.  There are two different types of students in the digital divide, students that have access to computers/technology and students that do not. Some students, student A, live in cities where they have the latest and greatest in technology, internet at home and in school.
